The big winner of the day at Wrag Barn’s Captain’s Charity Golf Day was Mind Swindon & Gloucester after £1,860 was raised for the charity.
Mind Swindon & Gloucester provide advice, support and services for those suffering with mental health issues and the charity is Wrag Barn Club Captain Mark Keenan’s chosen charity for this year.
The chosen theme for the day was “Back to the 80’s” and many members got into the spirit by sporting imaginative costumes for the golf with 30 further guests attending the 80’s themed buffet in the evening.
A field of 116 players from all sections of the club took part in the day which saw a nine-hole morning Texas Scramble and afternoon Stableford competition take place.
Winners of the morning Texas Scramble on the front nine were Andy Walsham, Nick Gregorace, Chris Taylor and Chris Lightfoot with a score of 23.9 while Alan Parsloe, Mark Puffett, Kelvin Millward and Richard Arkely won the back nine with a score of 23.5.
In the afternoon, Jason Martin, David Hefferan, Sam Jackson and Paul Kirk won the Stableford competition on count back with 121 points.
Just missing out on top spot in second place was Lee Hallett, Gary Hallett Ray Moulton and C. Mcgee, also scoring 121 points.
In third place was John Davis, John McNeil, Paul McCrossan and Dan Butler with a score of 119 points.
Other results were: Nearest the pin (men) on 12 – Curtis Cole; Nearest the pin (ladies) on 16 – Juliet Platt; Longest drive on 14 (ladies) Tracey Judd; Nearest the pin in two on 18 (Lewis Ward).
