Watch highlights from Team Swindon Basketball Club’s win against Basingstoke Blizzards on Saturday.
Team Swindon stormed to a fourth straight Wessex League Division One success as they beat Basingstoke Blizzards 107-29.
Head coach Antonio Wilburn was delighted with side’s performance, saying: “It’s an amazing feeling when you can set team objectives and execute.
“We spoke about our defense in the beginning of the match and said realistically we want to hold them to 10 points a quarter, and to be able to hold them to an overall of 29 points not only speaks highly about our defense but as a team we are continuing to build and develop more chemistry.
“Our defense is our best offense we want to speed teams up and make them play at a faster speed than they originally planned. Once they take quick shots or turn the ball over we like to counter and run in transition.”
Wilburn hailed the whole team for the dominant performance, adding: “Everyone contributed on the court and bench and played a huge role in our win.
“I was excited to see more of James Vego this match as he is a player who can catch fire quickly behind the three-point line and he brings so much energy on defense.
“The supporters also were able to get a glimpse of Mathis Rascalou. Mathis is a French guard from Paris France who is studying and playing at the University of Bath. As Bath has such a strong program and pool of players it is nice to have the link between the two and for players to be able to play for Team Swindon.
“I was excited to see some Swindon Junior basketball players in the stands. I think it’s important and great they come down and watch players like Matt North, who coaches Swindon Juniors alongside Charlie North. With Matt being a fundamentally sound player, the youth players can see first hand and put into practice what they have been taught. Hopefully it gives them the aspiration to continue to enjoy and develop their game.”
Swindon return to action on December 1st when they travel to Yateley Silverbacks.
Team Swindon scorers: Antonio Wilburn 25; Spencer Wells 22; Sam Newman 18; Matt North 16
