Michael Hopkins held his nerve to fire Swindon Supermarine into the final of the play-offs after he coolly slotted home the winning penalty in a semi-final shootout against Evesham United.
The defender’s successful spot kick completed a perfect set of penalties from Supermarine as they beat Evesham on their own turf 5-4 in the shootout.
Bradley Gray gave Supermarine an early lead when he headed home on 17 minutes only for Evesham to level two minutes after the break courtesy of Matt Liddiard.
Supermarine then had to withstand an Evesham onslaught before Zak Westlake almost snatched victory at the death only for his header to cannon back off the crossbar.
With no further goals in extra-time, both sides were forced to endure a penalty shootout to decide who would meet Wimborne, who beat Didcot 2-0, on Bank Holiday Monday.
Neither side made a mistake from the spot in the opening four penalties before the crucial moment when Evesham skipper Adam Mann fired wide.
And with Bradley Hooper, Connor Thompson and Hopkins scoring the next three for Marine, the Webb’s Wood outfit secured their place in the final in dramatic fashion.
Supermarine will now travel to Wimborne Town on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm kick-off) where both sides will battle for the remaining promotion place in the Southern League Premier Division.
