Swindon Storm American Football are back in training and warming up for a competitive return to action later this summer.
After the global pandemic wiped out the 2020 season, Swindon Storm have begun their pre-season a little later than usual.
Rather than competing in their usual league format, Storm will contest a regional competition against sides such as Bristol Aztecs, with no promotion or relegation taking place.
Normality is then set to return in 2022 when the usual league structure will resume.
The pandemic though has hit the club hard financially because they rely heavily on player fees and sponsorships but fortunately the club has managed to secure several grants which has secured its future.
Head coach Steve Bennett is “buzzing” for his side to be back on the pitch and has been delighted with the numbers at training which include players old and new.
The revised 2021 season will take place in June while the club train on Sunday mornings (11am) at Southbrook Rec. There is also ladies training on Saturday at 1pm.
