Watch highlights from Swindon Shock versus Cardiff City in the National Basketball League Division Three South West.
Swindon Shock edged the opening quarter by two points, winning it 14-12 but went in at the break behind after Cardiff took a 27-26 advantage.
Cardiff extended their lead by two points in the third quarter and, with Swindon chasing the game, wrapped up a 24-20 win in the final session to secure a 72-65 win.
Shock’s head coach David Colclough was pleased with his young side’s performance and believes they will become more clinical in matches as the team gains more experience.
“We lost a close game late to Cardiff City after leading by as much as seven points,” said Colclough. “We are just young, and don’t have the ability to close teams out and make them quit.
“There’s still quite a nervousness to our team that we will get over as we gain more experience.
“It’s our first National League defeat of the new year and also after falling short in the The Karl Taylor Plate. As a coach it’s easy to get down but we had a good chat as a team and guys know they have very little experience playing at such a high level.
“There was so many good things about these last few games so I’m going to keep building on the positives.”
