Swindon Supermarine boss Lee Spalding remained unbeat despite the home defeat against Taunton Town on Saturday.
The 1-0 defeat brought to an end a Marine’s three-match unbeaten run in the Southern League Premier South but Spalding was impressed with the performance against a side who are now third in the division.
Ben Addlesbury’s wonder strike proved the difference between the two sides in what was an otherwise competitive match.
“It is a defeat at home which I thouht we had a fair share of the game,” said Spalding. “The lad has come forward, the centre half, and he has hit a great strike to be fair to him and it has flown straight in.”
Spalding’s only criticism of his side was the inability to take their chances in front of goal and he felt the final result could have been very different had his players been more clincical.
“I just felt we lacked that bit of quality in the final third and it cost us today.
“In the final third we lacked that bit of edge which could get us a goal. We have got to take it on the chin, look to Tuesday (Beaconsfield, away).
“I’m disapopointed to get beat but the level of performance was a lot, lot better today.”
