Swindon Supermarine boss Lee Spalding admitted his side were second best at Farnborough on Saturday after he watched his side’s fine unbeaten run finally come to an end.
After six matches unbeaten in Southern Premier South, Spalding admitted the hectic festive period may have caught up on his side after they lost 2-1 at Farnborough.
“It is disappointing,” said Spalding. “I think the performance wasn’t good enough on the day, well it wasn’t good enough.
“Don’t think we defended well enough today. I thought second half we didn’t create much.
“WE’ve played a lot of games, we looked flat. Today it looked like a group of players who looked very tired.
“Today it wasn’t our day. We weren’t good enough, no excuses.”
Kurtis Cumberbatch opened the scoring for hosts Farnborough on 25 minutes before Henry Spalding levelled for Marine on 37 minutes.
Farnborough’s winner arrived just nine minutes from time, Matt Bevans scoring.
Marine return to action on Saturday when they host Staines Town.
