Shrivenham boss Gareth Davies was delighted with his side’s 4-1 win against Binfield but singled out his back four for special praise after the victory.
It was Shrivenham’s fifth straight win in the Hellenic Premier Division and Davies put the club’s fine run down to belief.
“To be fair I thought our centre halves today, Aaron Dainton and Macauley Dodson, were outstanding today,” said Davies.
“The whole back four were superb today. We just did things right, our decision making was right, in the right areas, the goals to be fair, we scored them at the right times.
“I think they are a team now. We as management believe in the group of players we’ve got here and I just think they needed to believe in themselves.
“They are working hard for each other now, it has clicked, don’t get me wrong, it is no where near finished, there is a long way to go.
“Last six or seven games we are doing things right, our decision making is 100 times better than it was at the start of the season.”
The hosts made a fast start after Antonio Gerrish was fouled inside the Binfield box on two minutes and Nathan Blackford provided the finish from the penalty spot.
Moments later Matty Horsell should have made it 2-0 but his near post shot was well saved by the Binfield keeper.
Binfield though levelled on 38 minutes when Danny Horscroft fired home clinically from a long free-kick.
And the visitors thought they had taken the lead right on half-time when Eddie Lee’s looked to have crossed the line.
Lee’s fierce shot crashed against the underside of the bar twice before Shrivenham keeper Mike Alexander collected the ball safely with the officials awarding no goal.
The second half saw Shrivenham come back into the match and they regained the lead on 52 minutes when Gerrish rose high above the Binfield defence to head home a corner.
Seventeen minutes later Gerrish struck once more, again with his head as he nodded home a Sam Ockwell free-kick.
Shrivenham’s fine victory was completed right on full-time when the impressive Tom Ballard fired home emphatically having cut in from the left wing.
