Wroughton arrived at the Gerard Buxton Ground hoping to dent Wootton Bassett’s unbeaten record and they went ahead on 10 minutes when Matt Bennett scored from six yards.
Bassett though were level on 18 minutes when Steve Yeardley provided a clever finish inside the box from a Tony Joyce free-kick.
Wroughton came close to restoring their lead before the break but were denied by the woodwork and some desperate defending from the hosts.
With the wind behind them, Bassett started the second half brightly with Tyler Sheppard seeing a header turned over by Wroughton keeper Jimmy Rae for a corner.
Yeardley then almost added his second goal of the game but just failed to connect with the ball at the far post.
With the game heading for a draw, there was a twist just three minutes from time when Bailey Gallagher fired home from the edge of the box to give Bassett three vital points.
