In an otherwise weather decimated fixture list, this game was the only match to survive thanks to Gerard Buxton’s 3G pitch.
Purton surged into a 2-0 lead with Steven Keir and Chris Avery on target for the visitors.
Hosts Bassett were given the chance to get back into the match when they were awarded a penalty, with first team regular Brad Pagliaroli making no mistake from the spot.
Pagliaroli then struck from 45 yards as his blistering free-kick proved too hot too handle for Purton keeper Dave Groom.
The result means Purton remain two points ahead of Bassett in sixth place but with two games in hand.
