Highworth Town boss Jeff Roberts was delighted with his side’s league cup win against Mangotsfield and has his sights on three points against Melksham on Saturday.

The Worthians have won three of their five games in Division One South and face a Melksham side who have only one league win to their name and languishing third bottom in the table.

Reflecting on the win against Mangotsfield, Roberts said: “Overall in the game I thought we looked quite tight.

“They are not a bad side, they are quite lively as well and they’re doing quite well in the league.

“We had a few other chances and we could have killed the game. Puts us in good stead for the big game (v Melksham) on Saturday.”

Highworth claimed victory against Mangotsfield courtesy of a Sean Wood penalty after Sol Pryce was brought down in the box on 60 minutes.

Moments earlier Mangotsfield had wasted a glorious chance to score when Sacha Tong found the side netting after rounding keeper Connor Johns.

Jacob Davidge almost doubled Highworth’s lead late on while Johns was called into action again in added time to ensure the hosts grabbed victory.
