Wrag Barn Golf Club hosted their annual Captains’ Drive-In on Sunday as Andy Walsham, Christine Eaton, Simon Warren and Ollie Clements hit their ceremonial tee shots.
All four Captains, Andy Walsham (Club) Christine Eaton (Ladies), Simon Warren (Seniors), Ollie Clements (Juniors) managed to get their drives away and every one reached the fairway despite the gusting winds.
Braving the windy weatheron Sunday was 140 people as they celebrated the 30th annual Captains’ Drive-In at the Highworth-based golf club.
A team bowmaker competition took place before the Drive-In Ceremony which was won by Club President Mike Bowes, Mark Walker, Dave Knell and Bob Webb with 120 points.
Incoming Club Captain Andy Walsham held a raffle, auction and ‘Guess the Drive’ competition on the day which raised a fantastic £2,600 for his chosen charity for the year HFT.
Hft is a national charity providing services for people with learning disabilities who can provide support from just a couple of hours a week up to 24 hours a day.
After his drive Walsham said: “I’m delighted to take over as Captain. We have had a great day and raised £2,300 toward my Charity HFT.”
Outgoing Club Captain Mark Keenan had earlier in the week ended his tenure by presenting a cheque for £5,194.72 to Hazel Howe, CEO of Swindon & Gloucester MIND, mental health charity.
