Shrivenham chairman Matt Hirst is looking forward to seeing the side compete in the Hellenic League Premier Division following the club’s promotion last season.
The club’s promotion was only confirmed on the final day of the season after rivals Easington Sports suffered a shock loss at home to Letcombe – a result which ensured Shrivvy finished in the runners-up spot.
Hirst claimed the decision to appoint Gareth Davies as the club’s new manager back in September ultimately proved crucial and now he expects Shrivvy to “thrive” in the division above.
While Hirst, Davies and the Shrivenham committee will work hard to strengthen the squad ahead of next season’s campaign there has also seen a lot of other work going on at the club.
One of the close season improvements at Shrivenham has seen a new drainage system installed, something which is hoped will minimise postponements and avoid a fixture backlog like the club suffered last term.
