Highworth Town boss Ross Adams believes the Southern League have made the correct decision to null and void the 2020-21 season.
Adams admits that everyone is champing at the bit to get back on the pitch but a revamped Southern League cup competition was not the answer.
“I think the league have made the correct decision,” said Adans. “Everyone is keen to get back in as soon as possible but it’s been the best part of four or five months now that we haven’t had any football so we are obviously going to have to get people back in before we think about playing friendlies.
“Given the decision the league has made, I think it makes perfect sense to start preparing for next season as soon as possible and obviously have a good pre-season. Hopefully we can kick on next season in decent shape.
“Clubs can’t continue with games behind closed doors. Soon as we can get back to people through the gates the better really.
“Fingers-crossed we can keep the majority of the lads together that we had this season. I’d be more than happy going into next season with the same group of players.”
