Swindon Town Ladies Development were crowned Wiltshire Women’s Cup champions but had goalkeeper Carla Heaton to thank for a string of fine saves which kept out rivals Royal Wootton Bassett.
While Meghan Larkin and Shaneez Mwaura scored the crucial goals, Heaton made three inspired saves to keep Bassett out when they looked like scoring.
Larkin fired Swindon in front courtesy of her superb first-half free-kick but then Heaton had to be on her toes to prevent a deflected Michelle Rich free-kick from slipping past her.
Heaton then made two point-blank saves from Rich and Hayley Huckin in the second half which kept Swindon ahead.
Mwaura rounded off the victory late on when she fired home inside the box to calm Swindon’s nerves and crowned her side Wiltshire Women’s Cup champions.
