Fairford Town manager Jody Bevan described Tuesday night’s friendly defeat against Southern League Cirencester Town as a decent workout for his side.
Despite a promising first half performance, Fairford slipped to a 3-0 defeat but Bevan admitted the game was more about blowing off the cobwebs and getting some match fitness ahead of the start of the new season.
And having made numerous new signings already such as Ian Herring and Nick Stanley, Bevan is confident that his side can make another promotion push in the Hellenic League this season.
Bevan told Your Sport’s Nick Taylor after the match: “Our attacking play and quality in possession in the second half was a bit disappointing but tonight was mainly about fitness and getting rid of the rustiness.”
