Reading City grabbed a half-time lead courtesy of Matt Stockill’s controversial first-half penalty.
A deflected Callum Parson’s shot hauled Bassett level before Stockill scored a superb effort from long range.
Caine Bradbury secured a point for Bassett though with a great strike of his own, picking out the bottom left corner from his free-kick.
