Watch this fantastic free-kick scored by Bideford’s Ben Carter in the seven-goal thriller against Highworth Town on Saturday.
Sean Downing secured all three points for Bideford in their Southern League Division One South clash against Highworth as he fired home the winner just 51 seconds after the hosts had levelled.
It was Downing’s second goal of the game after he gave the visitors the lead after just 49 seconds, following up his own half-volley to fire past Connor Johns.
Highworth had a goal disallowed for offside before Ashan Holgate headed home superbly to level on 15 minutes.
A fine move from Bideford though saw them regain the lead on 26 minutes when Kevin Squire powered the ball home from a right wing cross.
Highworth levelled again just five minutes after the restart after Darren Jefferies was fouled inside the penalty area with Ash Edenborough making no mistake with the spot kick.
A Ben Carter free-kick gave Bideford the lead once again on 73 minutes but the home side fought back again when Edenborough was brought down inside the visitors’ box.
The foul also saw Bideford reduced to 10 men as Ben Palmer received a second yellow card.
Callum Parsons grabbed a third equaliser for Highworth as he side-footed home from the spot.
Highworth stayed on level terms though for just 51 seconds as Bideford went straight down the other end to grab the winner.
A move down the right wing saw the ball fall loose and Downing powered onto it and into the Highworth box before side-footing home.
Edenborough had a late chance to score but blazed over the bar as the Devon side claimed all three points.
