Watch our first highlights video from last weekend’s Swindon & District Netball League.

Lawn B were victorious in their Division Two top-of-the-table clash against Croft B in the Swindon & District Netball League last weekend.

With little to separate the two sides at the break, Lawn held a slender four-goal lead at half-time against Croft.

A determined third quarter though saw Lawn pile the pressure on their rivals and stretch their lead further.

Lawn continued their fine form int he fourth as they ran out comfortable 46-32 winners to keep the pressure on division leaders Nationwide B.

Centre Lucy Drury claimed the player of the match award for Lawn.

Leaders Nationwide B meanwhile strolled to a 60-27 win against Purton A and lead Lawn by just one point at the top.

In Division Three, second-placed Royal Wootton Bassett A took on Jets A and clinched a convincing win.

Bassett made a good start with a strong attack and defence, making the most of their turnovers en route to a 57-19 success.

Annabel Hosking was named player of the match for Bassett.

Division Three leaders RTM dropped their first points of the season as they drew 42-42 with Delta A which allowed Bassett to cut the gap at the top to five points.

Bassett B team made a slow start in their Division Four clash against Raychem E before claiming a 50-29 victory.

After the first quarter, Bassett settled into their game and began making much-needed turnovers. Excellent shooting through saw Bassett ease to victory with Jess Smith named player of the match.

The win keeps Bassett in second, five points adrift from leaders Faringdon who won their sixth straight match of the season, beating Coleview 41-33.

Wootton Bassett C took on Moredon C in Division Five in what was an exciting match throughout.

Leading by one after the first quarter, Bassett’s superb mid-court play and accurate shooting saw them edge the second and third quarters.

Laura Robbins was named player of the match as Bassett won 51-42.

Leaders Pinehurst D also won, beating Calne 44-38, but are only ahead of Bassett on goal difference.

Elsewhere in the Division, Lawn D slipped to defeat against Croft D by the odd goal.

Lawn were trailing in all quarters but thanks to some excellent defensive work, managed to claw the score back and just missed out on a draw by one goal as Croft won 35-34.

Player of the match went to Ella Braithwaite.

On Sunday Bassett’s Under 14’s played Raychem A in their first match of the winter season.

Raychem pulled away early with a strong lead but the Bassett girls continued to give it their all, making great improvement in each quarter.

Laila Howse was named Bassett player of the match.
