Swindon St George Rugby League Club are hosting an action-packed Presidents’ Day on Sunday where they hope to raise a bumper amount of money for local charity Ted’s Smile.
The charity is close to the club’s heart as it raises much needed funds for Ted Grove, the son of one of their players Sven, who suffers from the rare brain disease called AADC.
Last season’s event was a huge success and culminated in Ted himself scoring the winning try in the Chairmans’ v Captains’ exhibition match.
Sunday’s event will see lots of events taking place including various rugby league matches including a Masters Match, a Legends Match and concluding with Swindon St George’s first team taking on Cardiff.
Off the field though there will also be lots of fun, family events including a bouncy castle, stalls and even the chance to step on board a fire engine.
We caught up with Swindon St George’s new chairman James Slatter to find out more about Sunday’s event and what’s ahead for the club this season.
