Swindon School of Gymnastics brought home a host of medals from the recent West Wilts Invitational Floor & Vault Championship in Trowbridge.
SSG had 21 gymnasts representing the club in the event which saw 76 competitors in action from three different Wiltshire clubs.
This competition was always going to be a close encounter with it not being the full list of apparatus, but the hosts made it a lovely friendly day.
First up for the Swindon club were their girls, with Shannon Reynolds winning the 10/11 year old section comfortably.
SSG had a clean sweep of the medals in the 12/13 section with Amelia Simpson winning, Daniella Reynolds taking silver and teammate Amelie Tyler taking the bronze while Beth Cooley came seventh.
In the large 13/14’s group, Tegan Seed and Annabelle Bath placed eighth and sixth respectively.
In the over 15’s Shannon White won the group very convincingly and teammate Millie Swift coming fourth.
Then after lunch the 12 SSG boys took to the arena with coach Laura Oakley.
Seven of the boys had never competed outside of the club but all kept focused and performed well.
The Novice section for under 9’s consisted of Joshua Broadfield and Louis Embling who took gold and silver, and team mates Sebastian Salmon, Max Jaksic and Billy Ashworth placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Monty Dors and Freddie Oakley competed in the Advance section for under 9’s and held their own to take the silver and bronze medals.
Very little divided the five gymnasts in the 10/11 group and judges awarded a three-way winning tie which included Harry Oakley and Nathanael Titcombe while Alfie Herbert took silver.
Finally the 12/13 years SSG boys did the town proud with Noah Hanks winning the silver and Oscar Saunders claiming the bronze medal.
