Swindon Supermarine boss Lee Spalding is looking to bring in two or three new players to the Webb’s Wood but admitted his priority was always to retain the majority of last season’s squad.
Following the fantastic play-off final success against Wimborne earlier this month, Spalding’s side will compete in a restructured Southern League South next season and the Supermarine boss said all of last season’s players deserve the chance to prove themselves at the next level.
“Obviously it was just really important that I got all the existing squad on board and now we have done that, although I’m still waiting on one player,” Spalding told Your Sport’s Nick Taylor.
“That was the most important thing and now it is about bringing in the right two or three players to make us competitive in the league above.”
Spalding also believes the restructured Southern League will benefit all clubs with less travelling time whilst still offering the same rewards for promotion.
Looking ahead to next season’s challenge, Spalding added: “We are under no illusions, every game is going to be tough but it is a fantastic opportunity for all the players to go and show that they can go into the league above and impress.”
