This season Brockshaw is taking over the under 14 and under 16 regional squads at Lawn and told Your Sport Swindon that she has been impressed with the young talent she has seen at the club so far.
The 22-year-old former Loughborough University student played for Lawn’s senior side last season but is now relishing the chance to nurture the club’s youngsters in her new role.
Brockshaw hails from Manchester, a city which has a thriving netball community, and the new Lawn coach hopes to play her part in replicating that model here in Swindon.
Talking to Your Sport Swindon she said: “I’ve come in as the coach just purely for the under 14 and under 16 regional squads to enhance what they have got already and bring something new to the table from a performance way of playing to get them to nationals this year ultimately.
Brockshaw told Your Sport Swindon: “I’ve come from Loughborough University and they are quite heavy on their strategy, their performance, their strength and conditioning, injury prevention and things like that so that’s what I want to bring to the squad something a little bit different, something that they haven’t had before.
“The target is for them to each progress, they are all in county systems, regional systems so we want to keep increasing the numbers there and again ultimately get to the nationals this year.
“There is real potential in the squad and I am really looking forward to the season.”
Lawn’s new coach also made an appeal to any potential local sponsors who would be prepared to help her two squads financially by helping to pay for things like kit bags, sweat tops, water bottles etc. Anyone interested in providing sponsorship should contact her via email at Lauren_bruckshaw@hotmail.co.uk
