Five goals and two red cards best described this Wiltshire derby with Shrivenham grabbing the bragging rights against local rivals Bassett.

But it was Sam Collier’s Bassett side who took an early lead when Danny Langford headed home after 15 minutes.

Shrivenham rallied after a tricky opening period and levelled when Josh Morse tapped home from close range after great work from man of the match Ryan Stanners.

Moments later Bassett were reduced to 10 men after Rhys Talmash was sent off for violent conduct after a clash with Shrivenham’s Jamie Prictor.

And five minutes before the break, Shrivenham took the lead when Ryan Stanners scrambled the ball home.

Matters got worse for home side when Shrivenham skipper Sam Ockwell fired home from long range after Bassett had overplayed from the back.

Bassett though fought back and forced a frantic finish to the match after Callum Parsons scored from the penalty spot.

Shrivenham keeper Mike Alexander was forced to make several fine saves including a superb parry down low against Bassett dangerman Brad Pagliaroli.

A second yellow card for Dave Bampton left both sides playing with 10 men but although Bassett pushed for an equaliser, Shrivvy held on for their first win of the season.
