Chippenham boosted their relegation and grabbed the Wiltshire bragging rights as they beat Wootton Bassett 47-13 at Allington Field.
The hosts however trailed 6-5 at the break with two Bassett penalties giving the visitors a slender lead after Matt Dickens opened the scoring on five minutes.
After the break, Ryan Surry pushed his way over with Dom Riccio converting to give Bassett a 12-6 lead.
Surry toughed down again soon after, Riccio again adding the extras.
John Turner was the next Chippenham man to cross the Bassett whitewash, Riccio again adding the extras, as the hosts took control of the match
Further tries from Sam Saunders, Dickens’ second score, and Aaron Clarke clinched victory.
Bassett hit back with a late converted try before Surry’s third try of the day rounded off a fine win.
Chippenham travel to another of their Wiltshire rivals this weekend when they visit Swindon, another team in the battle to avoid the drop.
All three Wiltshire sides, Swindon, Chippenham and Bassett sit on 50 points ahead of Oxford Harlequins (48 points) and Reading Abbey (45 points).
Bassett meanwhile host mid-table Grove.
