Matt Coupe believes Swindon Supermarine’s promotion hopes could rest on their ability to close off matches.

Supermarine dropped two points at home to Winchester City and while they are still “right in the mix” of the promotion zone in Southern League Division One South & West, Coupe says they must be more clinically in matches.

Joe Selman gave Supermarine a first-half lead before Callum Parsons saw his shot crashed off the inside of the post late in the second half. That miss proved vital as Winchester went up the other end and grabbed an equaliser courtesy of Rob Carr’s 82nd minute strike.

Coupe though maintained it was important for Supermarine to continue their unbeaten run and says the whole squad are in confident mood ahead of the visit of second-placed Salisbury on Tuesday night.

“We should have closed the game off, our unbeaten run goes on but we must close games off if we are looking to get promotion,” Coupe told Your Sport’s Nick Taylor.

“We are still right in the mix and there is nobody that we should be scared of.”
