Our next 2018 Highlight is from the Swindon & District Football League’s Cup Finals and a late win for Bakers Arms.
Bakers Arms won the 2018 Adver Cup in dramatic fashion as Jason McGovern fired home a 90th-minute penalty to give them a 3-2 victory over Ruby Removals.
A goal in each half from Bakers Arms striker Daniel Hiscocks gave the Premier Division outfit a 2-0 lead with just 25 minutes remaining.
However, plucky Division One side Ruby Removals refused to give up and hit back with two quick goals from Alex Hammond to level proceedings.
Both sides had good chances to grab that crucial third goal in the last 15 minutes before Bakers’ Ashton Glover was brought down in the penalty area by Ruby’s Lewy Day in the final minute of the match.
Day received a second yellow card for the tackle and, after a short delay, McGovern stepped up coolly to slot home the spot kick for Bakers to clinch a dramatic Adver Cup success.
