Sir Geoff Hurst believes the current crop of England players can follow in the footsteps of his 1966 heroes and win the World Cup.
Speaking at the official opening of Swindon Supermarine Football Club’s SwinDome multi-purpose facility, Hurst thinks Gareth Southgate’s men have a fantastic chance of glory in Russia.
Hurst is the only player to have ever scored a hat-trick in a World Cup Final but said he will gladly share that honour with Harry Kane if it means England are crowned champions.
The 76-year-old, who is a McDonalds ambassador, also praised Supermarine’s SwinDome saying it is a fantastic facility and very different to what was on offer during his childhood days when they used pavements and roads for football pitches.
