Shrivenham chairman Matt Hirst believes the continued evolution of the club’s youth programme will reap rewards across all side at Barrington Park.

The club has recently announced that two new age groups at Under 14 and Under 15 level will be formed with their junior affiliate Shrivenham & Watchfield Royals.

Hirst says the move will provide the club with a smooth transition between Junior and Youth setups and, alongside Shrivenham’s Under 18, Development and Senior sides the Barrington Park chairman believes the future is bright.

“The youth policy was non-existent when I took on the role at the start of the 2017-18 season,” revealed Hirst.

“I made it known that youth players were going to be the future of this club – they have to be at this level, so to complete this part of the jigsaw is another milestone under our belts and one that we’re only too happy to have reached.”

Shrivenham will now look to recruit management teams for each of the age groups with the club also considering the possibility of any existing teams who may be looking to come under the Shrivvy umbrella.

Hirst added: “We’ll be looking to recruit management teams for each of the age groups and as a club, we believe we’re an attractive local option for anyone looking for a new challenge.

“Whether it’s someone with the right aptitude looking to join us, or an existing team out there who are looking to come under our umbrella, we’re after the right fit for our club.

“Our immediate focus will be on recruiting an Under 16’s side and we feel that we can offer players in this age group unrivalled opportunities to benefit their progression.

“You only need to see how our current youth side have complemented the development and even our first team over the last couple of seasons, to understand the opportunities that we can provide as a club.

“With Wiltshire Senior Floodlit League and Hellenic League Two football to get involved in, the club can offer players the next step up and we certainly help with the transition to the senior game and have many opportunities that aren’t ordinarily available at this level.

“We’ve had an amazing four seasons as a club and we’re excited looking to the future.  We’ve recruited positive managers, coaches and players and have an environment that everyone wants to be a part of.  Things are really coming together and we’re really excited to see how the next five years continues to progress.”
