Swindon Supermarine boss Dave Webb said he was “over the moon” with his side’s performance in their pre-season clash with Newport County.
Supermarine lost out narrowly to their Football League opponents 4-3, but Webb believes his side’s showing was a “massive step forward”.

Swindon Supermarine narrowly lost out to League Two side Newport County in their latest pre-season friendly.
After last weekend’s 7-1 home defeat to Swindon Town, Supermarine welcomed another Football League side to the Webbs Wood Stadium.
It was the visitors who made the stronger start and they took the lead on 13 minutes when Lamar Reynolds squirmed a shot under Supermarine stopper Josh Hill.
Jack Alexander then turned the ball into his own net after a cross Frank Noble before Supermarine pulled a goal back shortly before the interval through Connor Thompson.
Robbie Wilmott doubled County’s lead from a free-kick before TJ Bohane notched a fine free-kick of his own to make it 3-2.
But once again Newport pulled clear, Marlon Jackson rounding keeper Hill before tucking home his side’s fourth.
Ryan Campbell reduced arrears once more just a minute later but Newport saw out a 4-3 victory.
