VIDEO: Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies 4 Almondsbury 2

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies maintained their perfect start to the league campaign with a 4-2 win against leaders Almondsbury.

Becky Gammon’s side were forced to come from behind after Abby Rose latched onto a Georgia Adams pass to score the opening goal.

Wootton Bassett got back on level terms after Laura Gammon toe poked home after a poor Almondsbury goal-kick.

Rhianne Oakley then headed off the line for Bassett from Samantha Kodola’s corner as the visitors threatened to regain the lead.

Just before the break, Gammon crashed a free-kick off the crossbar with Beth Westlake unable to steer the rebound home.

Wootton Bassett took the lead on the hour, Emma Sykes slotting Gammon through to score into the bottom corner.

Michelle Rich then picked out Sykes on a fast counter attack with the latter firing home clinically.

Bassett went 3-1 when Laura Jefferies’ cross was headed into the net by an Almondsbury player.

Almondsbury pulled a goal back with just minutes remaining, Faye Gilbert on target, but it proved too little too late for the visitors.

Bassett are now tied at the top of the table with Portishead who have a superior goal difference.
