Swindon Wildcats star Sam Bullas praised his side’s second-period fightback in the 3-3 draw with Peterborough Phantoms on Thursday night.
The Wildcats fought back from 3-1 down to ensure they go into next week’s second leg of the Autumn Trophy semi-finals level pegging with the Phantoms.
And Bullas believes both sides were cautious in the final 20 minutes as neither side wanted to gift the initiative to their opposition.
“The boys played well, we came in the second period and it was good to show the character,” he said.
“I think with these games it is a game of six periods.
“I think (in) the third period, everyone sussed each other out and we didn’t want to give up much or go too hard and get caught.
“You’ve got to be very defensive, you’ve got to be careful and if you do get caught in those situations it can cost you for the next leg.”
