Having gone seven games unbeaten since the new season began in August, its been revealed this week that Swindon Supermarine are just one of six sides in the Southern League who have yet to taste defeat.
Last season’s Toolstation Western League winners, Bristol Manor Farm, alongside promotion favourites Taunton Town, join Dave Webb’s Marine side as the three remaining unbeaten sides in the West section after five games played so far.
Moneyfields, based in Portsmouth, are the only remaining unbeaten team in the East section, with 13 points from 5 games.
Meanwhile, in the Premier section, both table-toppers Kings Lynn, managed by former Swindon Town defender Ian Culverhouse and Merthyr Town, who have drawn 4 of their 6 games played so far, have not lost a fixture.
As well as proving difficult to beat, Swindon Supermarine currently boast one of the meanest defences in the three sections of the Southern League, sharing the honour with Premier section side Redditch Utd in having only conceded 3 goals so far this season.
Whilst in the East section, both AFC Dunstable and former Football League side, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, have conceded 4 goals to date.
Marine’s credentials will next be tested this Saturday when they travel south to face Gosport Borough in the Second Qualifying Round of the F.A Cup. Borough sit rock bottom of the Premier section of the Southern League, having not gained a point in six attempts so far.
