Swindon St George A’s Brad Weston says his side will give it everything they have in the Plate Final against Gloucester.
The side did not have any opposition in the semi-finals of the plate with the Bristol Sonics unable to raise a side.
With both St George teams in finals action on Saturday, the A team have an opportunity for silverware in their debut season.
It was a tough campaign for the A team but they did round-off the season with a 52-42 win over Forest Bulldogs.
And Weston, speaking to Your Sport’s Nick Taylor, says his side will be seeking retribution after defeats to Gloucester earlier this season.
“The second team have tried everything they’ve got this season,” Weston said.
“The results haven’t exactly gone our way but at the end of the day we’re in the final for the plate.
“We’ve just got to give it the best that we can.
“When we’ve played Gloucester home and away we’ve lost both times, so we’ll go there looking to take revenge and take the plate.
“We’ll have the first team on the sidelines cheering us on and then after we’ll cheer them on for their final.”
St George head coach Ben Whincup also praised the A side’s perseverance despite their struggle for results during the West of England Pool One campaign.
“Halfway through the season, we were struggling for results,” Whincup said.
“The target was to complete our games and fulfill every fixture which other teams couldn’t do.
“Obviously with us finishing fourth and then Bristol pulling out, it allowed us to get to this position.
“You can look at it and say we deserve it, we’ve been there for every game and played week-on-week.”
The A team’s match gets underway at 1pm at Portway Rugby Development Centre, with the St George first team getting underway at 3pm against the Oxford Cavaliers.
