Swindon boxer Ryan Martin has vowed to bring the “best version” of himself into the ring when he takes on Portsmouth’s Michael McKinson for the WBC World Youth title in April.
The fight itself will take place in Martin’s home town at Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre on April 8th with the show billed as “Risky Business”.
Both boxers will put their undefeated records on the line and although 22-year-old Martin admits he is facing a really skilful boxer he is 100 per cent sure he will be walking away with the title.
“I starred him dead in the eyes and there is no tell in his eyes,” said Martin of the pair’s star down at the press conference on Friday night at the Old Bank in Old Town.
“He’s really skilful. He fights a lot like me from the southpaw stance. He is going to be hungry, it is definitely the biggest opportunity he has had in his career as it is mine I think he is going to being one hell of a fight.
“Since the WBC Youth World title was mentioned I haven’t even thought once about my undefeated record, there’s no losing this fight, I’m walking away with that title 100 per cent.”
“April 8th is when it matters and that’s when I’ll be bringing the best version of myself into the ring.”
