Grant’s Turn-ing young lives around thanks to Get On Track scheme

Swindon’s former Olympic swimmer Grant Turner is helping to turn around the lives of youngsters in the town thanks to a scheme called Get On Track.

The national scheme, which has just been launched in Swindon in recent weeks, is the flagship programme of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

Get On Track is aimed at disadvantaged young people aged between 16-25 and, led by world class athletes like Turner, aims to help them find a successful path in life.

Turner, who competed in the 4x100m at London 2012 and also won silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the same event, is now based in the Midlands but took on the programme in Swindon because of his love for the town.

We caught up with Turner during week three of the programme which saw the project visit Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre for an insight into fitness.
