Swindon Supermarine grabbed the bragging rights in the Wiltshire Senior Cup Final against local rivals Highworth Town, coming back from a goal down to win 2-1.
Hellenic League Highworth made the brighter start of the two sides and landed the first blow when former Supermarine strike Ash Edenborough scored on 16 minutes.
The goal itself came from a Supermarine corner which was collected by Highworth keeper Kent Kauppinen. His kick found Edenborough who eased past Supermarine’s last man Ryan Morgan to finish in clinical fashion against Connor Johns.
Seven minutes later though Supermarine were level when Josh Parsons scored a delightful free-kick which gave Kauppinen no chance in the Highworth goal.
Both Edenborough and Marine’s Connor Waldon went close prior to the break while Parsons fired a long range free-kick agonisingly wise.
Just four minutes after the break, Supermarine edged in front courtesy of centre back Ash Taylor.
An early corner saw Waldon rise above the Highworth defence to head goalwards with Taylor firing home the rebound.
Edenborough fired wide just on the hour mark before Highworth’s hopes of getting back into the match were dashed when Aysa Corrick was sent off for a rash challenge on substitute Callum Parsons.
Highworth pushed for an equaliser but a superb save from Johns to deny Edenborough from close range ensured Supermarine got their hands on the cup.
