Cricklade remain top of the Wiltshire Senior League after a 5-2 win against Bassett Bulldogs but they were made to work hard for the points.

Jason Hudson put Bassett Bulldogs in front before Cricklade scored twice to take the lead only for Chris Edwards to level before the break.

Cricklade though turned the style on in the second half as they scored three unanswered goals to claim victory.

On target for Cricklade was Jamie Sheppard (2), Dennis Sorrenti, Devan Bryan and Tom McCulloch.

Cricklade remain on top of the division on goal difference from Wroughton who were 6-2 winners over Pewsey Vale Development at the Weir Field.

Veteran goalscorer Glenn Armstrong scored a brace with the other goals coming from Riegan Cook, Chris Flanagan, Shane Hibbert and Dave Coleman.

Taylor Edwards scored Pewsey’s goals.

Kintbury remain in third place, a point behind the two leaders with a game in hand, as they matched the Wroughton result, winning 6-2 away at another of the leading sides Westbury United Reserves.

There was a hat-trick for Charlie Allsop with Luke Johnson, Harry Way and Paul Thorp scoring the other goals.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development moved above Westbury United Reserves into fifth spot in the table after bouncing back from a 2-0 deficit against bottom club Bremhill.

Two second-half goals from veteran Steve Yeardley got Bassett back into the game before George Staten then struck the winner for Bassett three minutes from time.

Shrewton United, playing their first home game of the season, returned to winning ways with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Malmesbury Victoria Development side. The win lifted Shrewton up into 7th place in the table.

Goals from Craig Sheppard (2) and Gregg Richardson did the damage for Trowbridge Town in their 3-1 home win over Marlborough Town.

Elsewhere, Ludgershall Sports edged it by the odd goal in five at home to Purton, consolation goals for Purton coming through Carl Shepperd and Gianluca Costabile.
